Our ‘GT1’ exhaust assembly is lighter and louder than the factory sports system, while remaining usable for regular use. https://www.larinisystems.com/collection/mclaren/mp4-12c

**New Development 2018 – the exhaust is now thermally insulated and coated (gold) which allows for cooler operating temperatures – thicker exhaust gas flows faster and enables even higher performance levels. Nothing else on the market will come close**

Typical questions:

Q. Firstly, what improvements are realized by the sports cats?

A. Our ‘Sports’ cats will give you a +25 bhp and 30 lb/ft torque gain typically. The power gains to be had from the catalysts area is higher on the McLaren than from the back box area. Our catalysts cores are manufactured using custom designed 300 cell cores to ensure sufficient wash coat is applied to keep the CEL off, without harming performance. In case of a check light in the future, it is imperative that you fit cats from a reputable supplier so if you do develop a lambda or code fault, it is not confused with a fault with the catalyst cores. We manufacture a range of dedicated metallic performance cats for super cars in varying sizes and specs and we were early adopters of the technology so our cores have been tested correctly and to destruction. They are designed to be fitted easily and not trigger a check engine light, while offering a sound and power gain, and come with a warranty. Their superior quality and performance allow for fitment of only 2 cores instead of the bulky 4 original cores. All sections are ceramic coated for optimal performance and thermal management. Low down and mid-range acceleration is noticeably improved thanks to less restriction to turbo spool-up. You won’t just hear the difference you will feel it.

Q. Any unique "features" that I should know about with your exhaust line before I buy and install it?

A. Our McLaren components are manufactured using thin wall stainless steel tubing, fit correctly, perform well and sounds fantastic - while offering a 50%+ weight saving over the bulky original item benefiting all areas of handling and performance. Our system is ceramic coated with a thermal barrier to manage heat dissipation optimally - by keeping heat within the exhaust, the thicker gas outflow air is, the faster it flows, while minimising heat exposure to surrounding components. ‘GT1’ exhaust weight is a scant 3 kgs circa, and the sound is more tuneful and louder than the dull factory sports exhaust offering. You can expect a +8 bhp and 12 lb/ft torque gain typically. We favour an H-Pipe style design over an X-Pipe design for this car due to finding better low-down to mid-range performance with a mid-high end ‘howl’, with our configuration. The car will sound as an exotic machine should whereas it does not as original.

Q. Do these parts need an ECU re-flash?

A. No, they do not. They are direct fit, and our products are absolutely compatible with the ECU tunes on the market should you add one.

Q. In terms of purchasing and getting the system fitted, would I order directly from you or from one of your authorised dealers? I would want to have it installed by a local company who has first hand experience with your systems. Who would you recommend and what would the installation costs come in at?

A. The quoted discounted price is only available from us. We have a number of installers who are very familiar with the McLaren installation, and can do it for you. Should you wish to purchase from us we can recommend fitting at a Larini approved install centre, as they will have installed Larini systems before. Alternatively, any competent Supercar independent or main dealer can fit the exhaust, it is a 5 hour job as the rear shieldings etc need to be stripped to access the exhaust. It will not invalidate your warranty.

Q. With regards to the Exhaust vs Cats options, many people seem to opt for the full set-up and I'm leaning towards this. However, I do worry about the cabin noise at both low and cruising speeds. Is it that much louder under these circumstances than the stock exhaust? I want the noise and pitch under hard acceleration but not necessarily when I'm driving round town on long journeys so maybe you can advise which you think would suit my needs best?

A. The full exhaust and cats set-up allows for a fantastic epic sound when accelerating but remains sensible when cruising on the motorway or at steady low speeds. Regardless, once fitted, you will immediately notice the difference at idle and low speeds between the Larini system and the OEM exhaust. Thus far, the ‘GT1’ exhaust has proved popular with those who would typically fit a sports exhaust from new to their car too, but won’t in the case of the factory sports exhaust due to the cost of that part versus real world gains. Our ‘Sports’ Cats are popular option from new due the lack of a factory sports cats option. Our ‘GT1’ Assembly and ‘Sports’ Cats gives them the best of both worlds.

Our exhaust and cats are a direct replacement - but perform and sound infinitely better...This is how the McLaren should have sounded, you will not be disappointed.
