AEM was founded in 1987 as a tuning performance shop focused on vintage automobiles and the latest trends in modified imports.
AEM developed one of the first Packaged Air Induction Systems. It's design came from their experience in dyno testing, understanding intake energy dynamics at the Battle of the Imports. AEM’s presence in the tuner movement and its proximity to Nissan, TRD and Honda allowed them a unique opportunity. There was an advantage to living side by side with racers and working with OES engineers. AEM was able to understand both the practical and theoretical side of engine performance. AEM's first air intake kit was offered for sale in 1994 as a "Do-It-Yourself" upgrade for the Honda CRX. This intake proved to be the beginning of a whole new tradition. People could suddenly purchase affordable cars and modify them for increased torque and horsepower. AEM has been a leader in the development of precision tuned induction systems since the Battle of the Imports. Today, the Company’s induction systems number in the hundreds. OVERVIEW
AEM® complete cold air intake systems helped put AEM on the map in the performance aftermarket, and our engineers design each system to be a fully integrated element of the engine bay. The filter is relocated outside of the engine compartment near the front fender to help provide cooler inlet air, and a long, free-flowing intake pipe routes from the filter and offers an increase in the volume of airflow to your engine.
Our short ram air intake designs place the air filter within the engine compartment, and feature a shorter tube length—an economical alternative to a complete cold air system that still offers performance, value, and ease of installation. AEM’s short ram intakes often utilize a heat shield to help protect the filter from high engine bay temperatures, and a CAD-designed intake tube to help provide smooth airflow.
Made for popular gas and diesel trucks, SUVs, and late-model fuel-injected muscle cars, each Brute Force® cold air intake system features a DRYFLOW® air filter, powder-coated steel heat shield (to help protect the filter from engine heat), and intake tube designed to provide a smooth flow of air. The Brute Force® intake includes a large DRYFLOW® air filter which offers more surface area than a traditional stock filter, and utilizes deep, bull-nosed pleats engineered to improve dust capacity.
Brute Force® HD intakes are the biggest and most rugged intakes that AEM® manufactures, and are available for popular late model Cummins, Duramax, and Power Stroke diesel engines. An extra-large, non-oiled DRYFLOW® air filter helps provide exceptional filtration and dust capacity, and is paired with a free-flowing intake pipe designed to provide an increase in airflow.
AEM® dual chamber air intakes utilize a patented intake tube designed to increase horsepower and torque. Two different diameters and lengths of piping are engineered to create multiple frequency sound waves, which help charge the cylinders with more air.
